Ms. Linda Brannon is a leader in academic and student affairs at The University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston. In her role as Associate Vice President for Academic Affairs, she is responsible for assuring that recruitment, admissions, and academic programs of the UTHSC-H schools are consistent with university policies and rules of The University of Texas System, the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board (THECB) and the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS). She is responsible for working with Executive Leadership, Deans and their staffs to ensure that UTHSC-H maintains its high academic standards and status, that student and faculty issues are addressed and that the university takes advantage of new technologies and incorporates them into the learning environment for faculty and students. Ms. Brannon has oversight over academic program evaluation at the instiutional level and is particularly concerned with the quality of life on campus for UTHSC-H students, for which she is a strong advocate. She also oversees student governance as well as a variety of support functions aimed at enhancing student life on campus. She manages the academic support infrastructure including the Registrar's Office, Student Counseling, the International Office, and Outcomes Assessment and Biostatistics Services. Ms. Brannon has served UTHSC-H for the past 20-plus years in a number of academic administrative positions, and was recently promoted to Associate Vice President. She serves as institutional liaison and directly interacts with the THECB and the SACS and serves as the university's representative on a number of state-wide, system-wide and university committees. She facilitates the Interfaculty Council and the Student InterCouncil, and co-chairs the Student Services Council with the Vice President for Auxiliary Enterprises. She received a BS in Elementary Education and an MS in Education with an emphasis on Educational Psychology from the University of Houston. |
