If you are interested in serving on the Medical Student Section Executive
Council (EC) in the upcoming year, please submit a letter of intent and
your curriculum vitae or résumé to Ashley
King by Jan. 20, 2006! All available positions are listed below. Elections
will take place during the TMA-MSS Winter Conference business meeting on
Saturday, Feb. 4, in Austin. Any TMA member is welcome to apply and is
encouraged to take advantage of these leadership opportunities. With the
exception of the position noted below, all offices officially begin after
TexMed 2006. If you have any questions about a position, don’t hesitate
to contact Ashley King or your
current TMA-MSS Executive
Council members. The offices up for election (seven positions) are:
Chair, Vice chair, Reporter, TMA delegate co-leaders (two positions - will
assume duties immediately after Winter Conference), and AMA delegate co-leaders
(two positions).
In addition, the TMA-MSS EC will interview candidates for the following appointments. Please also submit applications to Ashley King by Jan. 20, 2006. The EC will interview all candidates on the evening of Feb. 3, 2006. Offices up for appointment (two positions) are: TMA Board of Trustees special appointee and Alternate delegate on the Texas Delegation to the AMA. |

Make a Difference as a Volunteer at TMA Foundation's Benefit!!! The
TMA Foundation is looking for medical students and residents to volunteer
at Making a World of Difference, its thirteenth annual gala benefit. In
exchange, volunteers will receive a ticket to the event, along with many
opportunities to mix and mingle with board members and officers from TMA,
TMA Foundation and TMA Alliance.

Apply to serve on or lead a Convention Committee at the national AMA Annual Meeting in Chicago (Thurs 6/8 - Sat 6/10) - no previous experience necessary! Serving on a Convention Committee during the conference is a great way to help run the meeting as well as to meet medical students from across the nation. The Committees include: Community Service Committee, Credentials Committee, HOD Coordination Committee, Hospitality Committee, Logistics and Resources Committee, Parliamentary Procedures Committee, Reference Committee, and Rules Committee. Register online (it's free!) for the state-wide TMA TexMed Meeting in Houston (Thurs 5/4 - Sat 5/6). This is the largest of the TMA's three annual meetings and a great learning and networking opportunity! If you're planning on going to the AMA Annual Meeting in Chicago, TMA TexMed provides a great foundation. Opportunities specifically for medical students include TMA-MSS Business Meeting, statwide community service project on Saturday (at the Houston Museum of Natural Science), a membership recruitment training, and much more! |
