About our Organization
The AMWA chapter at McGovern is proud to host an annual lecture series for members featuring accomplished, diverse, driven, and well rounded physicians and educators from a variety of specialties in the Houston area. Lecture topics include: work life balance, professionalism in medicine, overcoming adversity, resident panels, pursuing academic medicine, and more!
McGovern AMWA strives to establish mentorship opportunities between members and faculty while promoting comradery and growth of an expansive support network within the school community. On campus, our members are involved in service opportunities through our organization and are diverse in their background, specialty aspirations, and extracurricular interests. AMWA welcomes male and female members! As a group we champion equality, promote work life balance, provide career networking opportunities, and emotional support for all members.
Service Opportunities
The AMWA chapter at McGovern is dedicated to serving the Houston area through service opportunities including Health Care fairs at Angela House, as well as through partnerships with other organizations including Health Professions against Interpersonal Violence and HOMES.
