For 2013 MATCH year we plan to interview approximately 220 highly qualified candidates for a total of 24 positions in residency. Twelve positions will be advanced positions starting PGY-2 here at The University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston and the remaining 12 will be categorical positions starting in our PGY-1 year program. Each year we select the most qualified candidates which includes primarily recent graduate US allopathic medical students including three to nine UTHealth medical students. Also, over the past few years 1–3 foreign medical graduates and 1–3 osteopathic medicine graduates have been accepted each year.
