Hermann Hospital continue a tradition of excellence in solid organ
transplantation, with MHH regularly being the most frequent organ-recovery
site in the country.
More than 100 transplants are performed
per year, including live donor and laparoscopic assisted donation, with
an additional 100 performed at Memorial
Hermann Hospital and the Texas
Heart Institute (THI), a popular anesthesia rotation during the CA-2
and/or CA-3 year.
Specialized monitoring and anesthetic
techniques will facilitate and allow residents to become comfortable with
the management of these (often) critically ill patients presenting for
complex surgical procedures.
