Course Prerequisites:
Introductory course in Human Neuropsychology
Course Description:
The total course will take 20 hours, divided into two times, 2.5 hours
during four weeks. After an introduction in brain-behavior
development, special attention will be devoted to topics where the
neurological substrate is clear, (e.g. epilepsy, head trauma, CVA,
hydrocephalus, brain tumor, dementia) and their consequences for the
life span development of an individual. In the second part,
special attention will be devoted to neuropsychological aspects,
diagnosis and treatment of learning disabilities, ADHD, dyslexia, BPPD,
NLD, PDD. In the third part, special attention will be given to
the different aspects of neuropsychology in Europe in terms of
training, requirements and licensing. Finally, attention will be
given to the translation problems of American Neuropsychological tests
with the European context. All of the above will be illustrated
with clinical examples and ongoing research. There will be ample
time for discussion and exchange of ideas and experience.
