Diffusion of O2 and CO2 between the blood and the pulpal cells is directly dependent upon the concentration gradient and inversely proportional to the diffusion distance. However, H2O and H2O soluble solutes are primarily exchanged by filtration-reabsorption, which are dependent upon hydrostatic and oncotic pressure differences across the capillary membrane.
