Cosmetic & Surgical Dermatology
Physician Faculty
Our dermasurgeons are highly trained in the surgical management of skin conditions. Each faculty offers unique surgical expertise, ranging from skin cancer therapy to cosmetic surgery. As Dermatologists, our dermasurgeons are specialists of the skin, and are experts on how different procedures affect skin healing and appearance. Our dermasurgeons are nationally recognized for their leadership and contributions to surgical dermatology.
DermaSurgery
The Dermasurgery Unit is a section of the Department of Dermatology, the first integrated Department of the University of Texas Health Sciences Center (UTHSC) and MD-Anderson Cancer Center (MDACC). Dermasurgery is the surgical management of benign and malignant conditions of the skin, hair, nails, mucous membranes, and associated veins and soft tissues. Dermasurgeons are Dermatologists; experts of the skin who further specialize in dermasurgery, which offers both invasive and non-invasive techniques for treatment and rejuvenation. A wide range of patient services (both diagnostic and therapeutic) are available, such as biopsies, excisions, laser surgery, vein therapy, birthmark management, and rejuvenation of sun-damaged skin. Mohs micrographic surgery (a highly specialized and technique for skin cancer) is available at the Mohs/Dermasurgery Unit at MDACC.
