Memorial Hermann Healthcare System Since opening its first hospital in downtown Houston in 1907, Memorial Hermann has been changing the face of healthcare across the greater Houston area. Texas’ largest not-for-profit healthcare system has grown into a comprehensive healthcare system of nine acute care and three long-term acute care hospitals, a physician network for primary and specialty care, a retirement community, assisted living and two nursing homes, wellness programs, rehabilitation and home health programs, several freestanding outpatient imaging centers and Houston’s only accredited air ambulance service. Memorial Hermann Hospital, the flagship location in the world-renowned Texas Medical Center, recently renewed its long-standing affiliation with the health science center. Consistently ranked among the top hospitals in the United States in U.S. News & World Report’s Best Hospitals, it has one of only two Level 1 Trauma Centers in Houston and is the only facility with a dedicated pediatric trauma service. Memorial Hermann’s Children’s Hospital is a 160-bed facility that focuses exclusively on the medical needs of children. Seven community-based hospitals throughout the greater Houston area offer innovative and comprehensive medical services. These include heart and vascular, neuroscience, orthopedics, organ transplantation, burn treatment, cancer, and emergency and critical care. Generations of Houstonians have come to know and rely on Memorial Hermann for quality, patient-centered care, attention to continuous innovation and long-standing commitment to meeting their healthcare needs.
