
Both, the Long Term Disability (LTD) and Short
Term Disability (STD) Insurance for employees of The University of
Texas System continues to be insured by The Hartford Group.
If an employee does not select either of these coverages during their
initial benefits eligibility period, they may only elect it during
the next Annual Enrollment period. They must complete an Evidence
of Insurability form.
However, the LTD program is an optional coverage which provides
income protection should an employee become disabled. After the
elimination period requirements have been satisfied, 60% of an employee's
covered salary will be payable upon claim submission.
