The Internal Revenue Service determines the contribution limits for each calendar year. You may contact the Benefits Office to request your contribution limit.

he first day of the calendar month following the completion of 30 days of active employment.

26. Who are considered my eligible dependents?

Eligible dependents for insurance are spouse, unmarried children up to age 25 (enrollment in school is not required), step-children and grandchildren (special documentation is required).

28. Who do I call if I have problems with my claims?

Contact the Customer Service Department of your insurance carrier. If you continue to have unresolved problems, contact the Employee Benefits Office at 713-500-3935.

29. What happens if I need to go to the doctor before I get my insurance card?

Contact the Employee Benefits Department at 713-500-3935 prior to going to the doctor. An emergency update can be submitted to your insurance company of advising them of your new coverage.

No.

31. What happens to my retirement contributions if I terminate my employment instead of retiring from the University?

Contributions to TRS may be refunded at the time your employment ends with the University. If you choose to withdraw your contributions, IRS penalties may be invoked.
