
Eligible employees of The University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston are entitled to receive longevity pay as provided by the State Legislature.
Changes to Longevity effective September 1, 2005
Effective September 1, 2005, eligible employees will be paid $20 per month for every two years of lifetime service credit, up to and including 42 years of service. The new rate will be included in eligible employees' September 16 th pay. For changes to longevity pay rates, please visit the longevity pay table for September 1, 2005.
Who is entitled to Longevity?
An eligible employee will receive longevity pay in the employee’s monthly pay if the employee:
- is a full-time employee on the first workday of the month;
- is not on leave without pay on the first workday of the month; and
- has accrued at least two years of lifetime service credit not later than the last day of the preceding month.
Who is not entitled to Longevity?
The following employees are not eligible for longevity pay:
- Academic employees
- Temporary employees
- Employees who retired from state employment on or after June 1, 2005 and receive an annuity based wholly or partly on service as a state employee in a public retirement system; or
- Employees who retired from state employment before June 1, 2005 and who return to state employment on or after September 1, 2005
