Treasury Management is committed to providing banking and other cash management services for The University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston, while ensuring the University is utilizing its funds effectively, minimizing risk, and complying with University policies.

We strive to maintain a strong relationship with all areas within the University in order to identify the banking and cash management services required. In addition, Treasury Management is responsible for managing the short-term and intermediate term investments to ensure sufficient liquidity for daily operating needs, and that funds not needed for short-term purposes are invested with an appropriate time horizon to optimize total returns.  

Treasury Management’s primary responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following.

• Manage relationship with banks
• Analyze daily cash position to determine funding and maximize interest earnings
• Establish and monitor bank accounts
• Process electronic funds transfers (EFTs)
  • Wire transfers
  • Automated Clearing House (ACH) transfers
• Manage short-term and intermediate investments
  • Ensure sufficient liquidity
  • Monitor investments to maximize investment income
  • Comply with U.T. System policies and procedures
• Perform check disbursement inquiries
• Coordinate lockbox activity
• Calculate and distribute interest income
• Administer petty cash and change fund accounts
• Transmit electronic files to bank
  • Positive pay file of issued check information (fraud prevention)
  • EFT file for vendor payments and Expense Reimbursements
