ADMISSION Students interested in pursuing a Ph.D. degree in Biomedical Sciences apply to the Graduate School using the Application for Admission, through either the on-line or down-loadable format. The majority of students apply for admission in the Fall semester, but admission may be granted for Spring or Summer semesters. Prerequisites for Admission include basic courses in Biology, Physics, Calculus and Biochemistry. The Application Procedure requires completion of the application form, including a personal statement, the scores of the GRE general test, transcripts from all institutions at which course work was completed, and three letters of recommendation. On the application, students are asked to identify up to three Areas of Study in which they are interested. Graduate School Faculty in each of the identified areas review the completed application and make recommendations to the Admissions Committee. All applicants admitted to the Ph.D. degree course of study are awarded
a Stipend, including health care benefits.
The cost of Tuition
and Fees is included in the package offered to admitted students.
At the time of admission, outstanding applicants may be offered Merit
Awards that supplement the standard stipend by up to $3,000 per year
for four years. Additional Financial
Assistance is also available.
