Stephen H. Linder, PhD

Dr. Linder is a Professor at the University of Texas School of Public Health with appointments in three Divisions – Management, Policy and Community Health, Health Promotion and Behavioral Science, and Environmental and Occupational Health Sciences. He is also the Associate Director for the Institute for Health Policy. He received his doctorate in political science from the University of Iowa and was trained in mediation and dispute resolution at the University of Texas Law School and in leadership at the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston. He was on the Faculty of UCLA and Tulane University before coming to the School of Public Health in 1984. He is a McGovern Teaching Award recipient and in 2004 was named a Piper Professor by the Minnie Stevens Piper Foundation for excellence in teaching and scholarship. Dr. Linder currently heads three projects at the Institute for Health Policy: Research Into Action, a knowledge translation initiative, the Health of Houston Survey 2010, and the Clean Air Benefits Project.
