House Staff Senate

2007-2008 marks the second year of the House Staff Association Senate, which is beginning to gather strong representation from all departments and to develop agendas that will have significant impact on key areas of resident life.

The House Staff Senate is made up of representatives from each department. The Vice-President of the Executive Council (Allyson McKenney) serves as the President of the Senate. See the Senate Bylaws (Word DOC file) for more details.

Active Projects

• Formation of subcommittees on three major topics
  • Hermann Hospital Issues
  • LBJ Issues
  • Graduate Medical Education (insurance, benefits, hours, etc.)
• Facilitating the collecting of dictation templates for EMR

Functions of the Senate

• Advise the Officers on matters pertinent to each department
• Aid in developing policy to guide the affairs of the House Staff Association.
• Disseminate of information to the Association membership
• Seek candidates for the elected positions of the Association.
• Serve on and recruite representatives for committees that impact Association members
