UTHSC-H Delegation Visits Asia
A delegation from The University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston visited 23 institutions throughout Asia in June 2002. Dr. Hui-Ming Chang, associate vice president for international programs and special advisor to the president, toured institutions in 8 cities: Bangkok, Beijing, Hong Kong, Seoul, Shanghai, Suzhou, Taipei, and Xi'an.
The trip covered clinical, research, and educational areas of exploration between UTHSC-H and universities and hospitals in Asia. These visits served as an opportunity to become acquainted with some organizations for a future partnership, as well as a chance to build on long-standing affiliations.
Overall, Dr. Chang met with 10 presidents of universities and hospitals, many vice presidents, deans, chairman, faculty, administrators, students, and postdoctoral fellows. She also met with officials at the Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Education in China.
As a result of this visit to Asia, two Thammasat faculty members have applied to the Ph.D. program at the UT Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences at Houston. |
