Her Excellency, Deputy Minister of Health, Marketa Hellerova, led a medical delegation from the Czech Republic on a visit to UTHSC-H from October 15 to 16, 2007. Hosted by the U.S. State Department, the delegation's program was entitled "Health Care in the U.S.- A Project for Czech Republic."
James T. Willerson, MD (president) welcomed the delegation and Hui-Ming Chang, MD, MPH (vice president of international programs and special advisor to the president) gave an overview of UTHSC-H, The University of Texas System, and the Texas Medical Center. |

The delegation members included a distinguished group of six Czech health care experts from diverse geographic locations with a balanced set of perspectives. While in the United States, they visited with the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, state and regional health care agencies, insurance companies, research centers and universities, and private and public clinics and hospitals. Their goal was to find a proactive path toward heath care reform for the Czech Republic. |
