University of Health Sciences at Lahore, Pakistan
An Agreement of Cooperation between The University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston and The University of Health Sciences at Lahore, Pakistan was signed in Washington, DC on September 22, 2004.
Dr. James T. Willerson met with the President of Pakistan, General Pervaiz Musharraf. President Musharraf and many of U.S. Senators and Congressmen witnessed the signing of this Agreement of Cooperation. President Willerson, Professor Mahmood Ahmad, SI (chairman board of governors) and Professor Malik Hussain Mubbashar HI, SI (vice chancellor & chief executive) signed the Agreement. This is the first time one of our Agreement of Cooperation was signed at the presence of President of a State.
On September 23 and 24, 2004, Professor Mahmood Ahmad SI visited UTHSC-H. Hui-Ming Chang, MD, MPH (vice president, international programs and special advisor to the president) met with him to discuss cooperation between both institutions; exchange of information pertaining to research and advancement in medical and health related fields.
Professor Ahmad also had productive meetings with: George M. Stancel, Ph.D. (dean, Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences), Michael D. McKinney, MD (senior executive vice president and chief operating officer), L. Maximilian Buja, MD (executive vice president for academic affairs), Terry E. Rives, DrPH (director of outcomes assessment & biostatics service), Gwen Sherwood RN, PhD, FAAN (executive associate dean School of Nursing), Jack W. Smith, MD, PhD (interim dean, School of Health Information Sciences), Hazim J. Safi, MD (prof. director and chair cardiothoracic vascular surgery, Medical School), Dianna M. Milewicz, MD, PhD (professor and vice chairman of the Department of Medicine, Medical School), Stanley G. Schultz MD (dean Medical School), Dr. Gary C. Rosenfeld (professor and assistant dean for educational programs, Medical School), Carlos R. Hamilton, MD (executive vice president for external affairs) and Guy S. Parcel, PhD (dean, School of Public Health). |
