Wenzhou Medical College visits UTHSC-H
A delegation from Wenzhou Medical College, China visited UTHSC-H on May 5, 2006. Jia Qui, MD (president, Wenzhou Medical College, proffessor of opthalmology and visual medicine, president Wenhou Eye Hospital Zhejiang) led the delegation with Lu Fan, MD (executive associate vice president, Wenzhou Eye Hospital, Wenzhou Medical College) and Xiang-tian Zhou, MD (director, Research Center for Visual Medicine, Wenzhou Medical College) as its members. Hui-Ming Chang, MD, MPH welcomed the delegation and briefed the delegation on UTHSC-H. The Office of International Programs arranged for the delegation to visit and tour the Hermann Eye Center located in Memorial Hermann Hospital. The delegation met with Judianne Kellaway, MEd, MD, FACS (assistant dean for admissions, UT Medical School at Houston, director of residency program, clinical associate professor, Department of Ophthalmology and Visual Science) and Richard Yee, MD (Joe M. Green, Jr. chair in ophthalmology, UT Medical School at Houston). Xinping C. Zhao, PhD, MBA (assistant professor, ophthalmology and visual science, UT Medical School at Houston) gave a tour of his and Dr. Yee's research laboratory. He demonstrated his research using  zebrafish as a model. James T. Willerson, MD (president, UTHSC-H, president elect, THI) met with the delegation and encouraged future collaboration between Wenzhou Medical College and UTHSC-H. The delegation concluded their visit with a visit toYong-Jian Geng, MD (professor, Department of Internal Medicine, UT Medical School at Houston) and a tour of the Texas Heart Institute. The group was brought to UTHSC-H by Yong-Jian Geng, MD. The delegation was also accompanied by Michael Berlowski (OIP) and Maribel Salazar (OIP).
