The International Programs Award seeks to recognize faculty and students of the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston who are actively engaged in international collaboration. The International Programs Award was established in 2005 by means of a generous donation by a benefactor. The award selections are conducted by a committee of faculty from all six schools of UTHSC-H. The committee, each member with a unique view on what the university should support, ranks the applications according to criteria such as rationale for the project, the perceived benefits for the applicant, their department and UTHSC-H, and the overall importance of the work. In order to be considered for the award, the applicant must be a registered student or faculty in one of the schools or institutions of UTHSC-H at the moment of application, the following fall semester, and the duration of the project. The application consists of a current curriculum vitae, project statement, and any supporting materials for the project. Over the past two years, the Office of International Programs has awarded numerous projects encouraging international relations between various constituencies of UTHSC-H and academic institutions of higher learning throughout the world. With this award, the Office of International Programs hopes to provide funding to valuable advancements of international relationships and increase the individual and collective awareness of international programs.
