Diversity Fair 2009
The School of Public Health Student Association is hosting their Diversity Fair on Friday, November 13, 2009 beginning at 4:00 p.m. in the lobby of the School of Public Health. All members of the TMC community including students, faculty, and staff are invited to attend. There will be cultural performances, art and craft displays, and a diverse selection of food. Attendees are encouraged to wear any ethnic attire suitable to the occasion.

Time to prepare a U.S. Income Tax Return! 
International students and scholars who received any payment for services in the United States during the 2008 calendar year must prepare a US income tax form and submit it to the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) by midnight on Wednesday, April 15, 2009. This is required even if all, or part of, your US earnings are exempt from tax under a tax treaty with your country. Moreover, internationals visitors holding J-1 or F-1 visa status should fill out and submit an IRS Form 8843 even if you received no payment while in the United States! The Office of International Affairs will be hosting a Tax Information Workshop on Tuesday, February 10, 2009 and a repeat session on Tuesday, March 10, 2009. Additionally, The Houston CPA Society and the Internal Revenue Service are sponsoring a Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) site to provide free tax help for Nonresident international students and scholars. Nonresidents interested in learning how to complete your tax return or having your IRS Form 1040NR completed, are invited to utilize the services of this VITA site hosted at the University of Houston main campus.
