Broadly stated, the responsibilities of a Program Director can be
summarized as the training of competent physicians in their chosen specialty.
Implicit in this responsibility are:
- Development of a curriculum which
meets the established training goals and objectives
- Recruitment and retention
of residents and faculty
- Evaluation of the program, residents, faculty
and staff and using the
results to effect any needed changes
- Ensuring that the training goals and objectives
are being met.
- Maintaining program accreditation
- Dealing proactively with issues/problems
confronting Residents
- Resident Impairment Policy
- Clinical Skills
- Academic
- Administrative
- Duty Hours
- Becoming familiar with Visa issues and regulations
