Chest and Abdomen Radiology Case Files

These are interactive clinical case based radiographic teaching files, geared toward third and fourth year medical students beginning their clinical science rotations. The cases are presented as unknowns in a quiz format. Examples of common disease entities in the chest and abdomen are presented with a brief differential diagnosis as well as description of pertinent radiographic findings for each case.

Chest and Abdomen Radiographic Teaching files
based on National Medical Student Curriculum in Radiology

The Chest and Abdomen macromedia flash radiographic teaching files are based on the National Medical Student Curriculum in Radiology. This list includes cases considered an essential part of radiology curriculum for medical students by the Alliance of Medical Educators in Radiology (AMSER). The case files provide an introduction to learning basic radiological skills, enriching the medical student radiology curriculum. The teaching cases show normal radiographic anatomy in both Chest and Abdomen sections on plain radiographs and Computed tomography, as well as abnormal radiographic findings in commonly encountered disease entities on both imaging modalities. The teaching files also focus on the importance of recognizing critical "Don't Miss" radiographic findings that determine acute patient care and management in the Emergency Room setting. Review of the teaching cases will also help understand basic imaging concepts and the implications of ordering appropriate imaging studies as a clinician.
