Biography:

Scott D. Lane, Ph.D., Professor of Psychiatry & Behavioral Sciences. Dr. Lane is the laboratory director for the Center for Neurobehavioral Research on Addictions (CNRA) at UTHSC-Houston. He has been funded continuously by The National Institute on Drug Abuse (NIDA) and/or the National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism (NIAAA) since 1997. He serves as a member of the Neuroscience Program faculty of the UTHSC-Houston Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences (GSBS). Dr. Lane’s research utilizes techniques from behavioral pharmacology, experimental analysis of behavior, psychophysics, and neuroimaging to investigate (broadly) problems of impulse control and decision making -- including substance abuse and antisocial personality disorder. He is author of more than 80 peer-reviewed publications focused on aggressive behavior, risky decision making, response inhibition, working memory, and the neurobehavioral consequences of acute and chronic drug exposure on these processes. Dr. Lane is an active mentor of post-doctoral fellows and GSBS graduate students, and teaches courses in psychopharmacology, cognitive neuroscience and experimental methodology. A firm believer in the power of scientific collaboration, all of Dr. Lane’s research and training activities involve ongoing interaction with local colleagues at both UTHSC-Houston (Moeller, Steinberg, Schmitz, Swann, Green) and Baylor College of Medicine (Kosten, Newton, De la Garza, Nielsen).
