Course Description

This course is designed to provide the student with an update of pharmacologic principles and certain drug groups. The lectures are divided into four categories: 1 mechanism, kinetics and termination of drug actions, 2 drugs used by the dentist in therapeutics, 3 management of patients with various medical conditions and 4 current information regarding the mechanisms of drug reactions and interactions as they relate to the toxicity of drugs used in clinical practice, including antidotal and emergency procedures. Students are expected to review the fundamentals of these subjects independently, since the primary emphasis will be directed toward clinical pharmacologic implications of these subjects.
