About Dr. Rogers

Carla S. Rogers, Ph.D. Qualified academician, esteemed public speaker, noteworthy author, and selfless humanitarian, Dr. Carla Rogers brings a wide range of experience to the UTHealth Department of Neurobiology and Anatomy.

Dr. Rogers earned her Ph.D. in Medical Sciences with a specialty in Human Anatomy from the Medical College of Ohio in 1983. She went on to hold faculty positions at the Medical College with teaching responsibilities in such medical specialties as Gross Anatomy, Histology, Embryology, Neuroanatomy, Physiology, and Biology, as well as studies in Life Sciences and Earth Sciences. Respected by her peers, Dr. Rogers has been honored as a keynote speaker, invited to speak at conferences several times, and has appeared for interviews on radio and television. In 1991, she became Assistant Dean of Admissions/Student Affairs.

In 1994, she began writing and publishing career guidance books for undergraduate students in the medical professions. Dr. Rogers also took her mentoring skills into the world of humanitarian aid, where she was a team leader tasked with the construction and operation of medical and dental care facilities in diverse places such as Burkina Faso and Belize.

In 1996, Dr. Rogers moved to Houston, where she became the Chairman of the Department of Science at The Woodlands Christian Academy, where she also served as College Counselor, advising students on their quest for a higher education. In August 2002, Dr. Rogers came to The University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston, where she joined the Department of Neurobiology and Anatomy as a Lecturer.
