Exporting Your Digital ID From
Netscape Communicator

Staring Point

    One begins accessing any security function by selecting the "Security Icon" on the "Navigation Toolbar" at the top of "Netscape Navigator". This Toolbar is illustrated in the following figure and the "Security Icon" is shaded red.

  • displays the "Security Info" page. Then,
  • click on the "Yours" link below the "Certificates" link.
  • The "Your Certificates" page appears (illustrated in the following figure).

Click on the description of the certificate that you want to export. This will shade the certificate description dark blue. Then select the "Export" button (shaded red in the above figure. 

The "Password Entry Dialog" will appear.  Enter the password for your Personal Security Environment (PSE), i.e. the Communicator Certificate DB, using the password you must never forget. This will open your "Personal Security Environment" so that you can copy your digital ID.

Once your Personal Security Environment is opened, another "Password Entry Dialog" appears. Enter a password to protect your digital ID on the floppy disk.

The file selection window will appear. Select the disk to which you want to export your ID.  Enter the File name for the stored digital ID and select the "Save" button.
