Importing Your Digital ID Into
Netscape Communicator

Staring Point

    One begins accessing any security function by selecting the "Security Icon" on the "Navigation Toolbar" at the top of "Netscape Navigator". This Toolbar is illustrated in the following figure and the "Security Icon" is shaded red.

    Clicking on the "Security Icon"security icon
  • displays the "Security Info" page. Then,
  • click on the "Yours" link below the "Certificates" link.
  • The "Your Certificates" page appears (illustrated in the following figure).

To import a digital ID, select the "Import a Certificate" button (shaded red in the above figure). 

The "Password Entry Dialog" will appear.  Enter the password for your Personal Security Environment (PSE), i.e. the Communicator Certificate DB, using the password you must never forget. This will open your "Personal Security Environment" so that you can import your digital ID.

This will trigger the file selection window.  Select and open the file that contains your digital ID.

The "Password Entry Dialog" will appear.  Enter the password that you used to protect your digital ID on the floppy disk.
