Signing
& Encrypting Netscape E-mail
Individually
Sign and/or Encrypt Selected Messages
Starting Point
Anytime prior to sending a message, you can chose to "sign" and/or "encrypt"
the message by selecting the "Messages Options" icon,
located, to the left of the address field. (See the green-shaded
icon in the following figure.)

Clicking on the "Messages Options" icon, ,
replaces the address field with five options - next figure. The two
green-shaded
options allow one to "sign" and or "encrypt" a message when it is sent.
In the following example, the "Signed" option is checked. This causes a
"certificate" to appear attached to the "security" icon in the "Messenger
Toolbar". (The security icon is shaded gold.)
A "certificate" attached to the "security" icon, .
denotes that the message will be signed when sent.

The example that follows has both the "Encrypted" and "Signed" options
checked. This caused the "security" icon,
to appear in the "closed and locked" state and have a "signed" certificate
attached. The message is "signed" and "encrypted" when sent.
