Welcome to the Nutrition in Medical Education Website for The University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston, Medical School.

Nutrition has always been fundamental to medical education and clinical practice and is a particularly important instructional area in primary care. The mission of the UTHSC-H Medical School is to provide the highest quality education and training of future physicians, and the UTHSC-H Medical School has consistently rated among the top 15 U.S. medical schools in the number of graduates entering the primary care areas of family practice, general pediatrics, and general internal medicine. In an era where there is compelling evidence that chronic diseases including cardiovascular disease, obesity, diabetes, hypertension, and cancer are linked to diet and other lifestyle factors nutrition education for our medical students is essential. This website is devoted to providing an overview of medical nutrition education activities at the UTMSH and serves as a resource for students, residents, and faculty
