The first step in configuring your TCP/IP software, is to open up your TCP/IP
control panel. Pull down your Apple Menu and select Control Panels. From within
the Control Panels list select TCP/IP
.
The box seen below will apper on your screen, however most of the information
will be missing. First select PPP from the "Connect Via:" pull down menu. Next
fill in the "Name Server addr.:" panels as shown. The numeric addresses can
be entered in any order. Make sure that you have only "uth.tmc.edu" entered
in the "Search Domains:" box. Once the information is filled in close the window
and save the configuation once prompted.
The next step is to configure OT-PPP.
Open Transport PPP is the recommended dialer to use with Open Transport Networking.
If you have a new Macintosh, or have purchased Mac OS 7.6 or later, OT/PPP
should be included on your system software. If you do not have it, it can be
obtained from Apple's web site. Once you have OT/PPP installed you need go to
your Apple Menu, select Control Panels, then PPP
.
This should bring up the box below. In the "Name" box enter your dialup username.
Enter the password you were assigned below that. If you would like to avoid
entereing your password every time you dial in to our servers, check the "Save
password" box. Below that enter 713-313-9887 for the phone number phone number.
Next attempt to dial in with this configuration by clicking on the Connect button.
