Webpage editing with Netscape or Mozilla
An extremely efficient way to create and edit basic HTML documents is to use a Web browser that has an internal editor and uses the WebDAV protocol to directly publish to your WEBSPACE This permits one to
- create or open an exiting HTML document in edit mode within the browser,
- edit the document, and
- simply press the "Publish" icon to upload the document.
This is extremely useful for students, faculty and others who who would like to maintain on-line notes or scholarly documents having hyperlinked references and other value-added aspects of multimedia resources.
Netscape and Mozilla Browsers
Both Netscape (4.7x & 7.x) and Mozilla (1.7x) browser have extensive editing features and permit direct HTTP/HTTPS publishing of newly created or modified documents. (These browsers are also available for Linux and Mac OS X.)
To modify an existing HTML document in your WEBSPACE:
- display the document in the Web browser,
- select the "File" menu,
- click on "Edit Page",
- document is displayed in browser,
- edit the document, and
- click the "Publish" icon to upload the document.
To create and publish a new HTML document:
- activate the browsers Editor"
- create the document, and
- click the "Publish" icon to upload the document.
