Webpage editing with Netscape or Mozilla |
This method will allow you to create a mapped drive to your webspace site under "My Computer" in Windows XP. First you will need to download and unzip the Novell NetDrive setup file. You will need adminsitrative rights on your machine to install it. When you first run NetDrive there will be a "New Site" button at the bottom right. Click it. In the dialog box that appears, enter a name for your site (such as "webspace" of "my webspace") and enter the root address of your webspace:
The first screen will reappear with the information you entered. Make sure the Server Type is set to "WebDAV". If you want, you can check the "Connect at login/startup" checkbox. This will start NetDrive when Windows starts. "Drive" is the letter of the drive you'll be mapping webspace to. Be sure to choose a letter that isn't already in use Checking "Add to tray connect menu" will add it to the tray menu, accessible by right-clicking the Net Drive icon in the Windows system tray. Make sure to uncheck the box marked "Anonoymous/Public Logon", and enter your username in the box below it. Now click the "Connect" button at the top right of the window:
You may get an error message if the Drive letter you chose is in use. If so, choose an unused drive letter anc try again. If successful, you'll see this dialog box:
Enter your password and click "OK". You should now see a window displaying the contents of your webspace. Happy publishing!
