Mission Statement
The primary mission of the Otorhinolaryngology residency program of the Department of Otorhinolaryngology is to provide comprehensive training to physicians in all aspects of the specialty of otorhinolaryngology-head and neck surgery in preparation for certification by the American Board of Otorhinolaryngology.
To accomplish this mission, the Department's full-time and volunteer faculty supervise, instruct and mentor resident physicians in a wide variety of settings including ambulatory clinics, outpatient and inpatient operating rooms, emergency departments and various other hospital settings as well as other structured learning environments, including formal and informal lectures and dissection laboratories. The educational process also encompasses the academic endeavors of clinical and basic science research.
Under the auspices of The University of Texas Medical School at Houston Office of Graduate Medical Education, the Department follows the principles for resident education specified the American Council of Graduate Medical Education.
