Ron J. Karni, MD, serves as Assistant Professor in the Department of Otorhinolaryngology–Head & Neck Surgery. He obtained his medical degree at Baylor College of Medicine and residency training at Washington University in St. Louis School of Medicine. Before joining the Department of Otorhinolaryngology–Head & Neck Surgery at UT Houston, Dr. Karni pursued additional training in neck ultrasonography and transnasal esophagoscopy. He has also co-authored several articles on practical tools to integrate evidence based methods into the daily practice of medicine. Dr. Karni is board certified by the American Board of Otolaryngology–Head & Neck Surgery.

Dr. Karni’s clinical interests include General Otorhinolaryngology, management of thyroid and parathyroid disorders including diagnostic ultrasonography, head and neck cancer, treatment of salivary gland disorders, surgery of the nose and paranasal sinuses, evaluation of voice and swallowing problems including transnasal esophagoscopy, and sleep medicine.
