Cochlear Implant and Implantable Hearing Aids
UTHealth audiologists participate in the evaluation and rehabilitation of patients (both children and adults) with profound hearing loss. A cochlear implant or an implantable hearing aid can offer dramatic results for these patients.

Nabil S. Al-Muhtaseb, MB, CHB, MS, CCC-A
Nabil’s medical training and experience bring a new professional dimension to our group. He is one of just a few “physicians turned audiologists” in the United States. Nabil earned his master’s degree in audiology from Lamar University Hearing and Speech Center in Beaumont, Texas, in 1993, and worked at the M. D. Anderson Cancer Center in Houston and with NTAMG Surgical Specialists and Texas Health Care in Fort Worth prior to joining UTHealth. He received his medical degree in family medicine from Alexandria University, and is certified in Audiology by the American Board of Audiology. Nabil speaks English, Arabic, and some Spanish. Nabil’s professional organizations include:
