Data Classification and Retention Schedule for iRIS

Objective

This procedure describes the classification of data and records retention schedule for iRIS for the Office of Research as set forth and approved by UT System.

Policy/Procedure

  1. Medical research records including research protocols involving human subjects have been classified as confidential and permanent.  Definitions of these classifications can be found in the Handbook of Operating Procedures, Section 17.01 – Information Technology, Responsibility for the Use of Information Resources -   http://www.uth.tmc.edu/ut_general/admin_fin/planning/pub/hoop/17/17_01.html (Information Classifications).
  2. Records are retained as outlined in the Records Retention Schedule (http://is.hsc.uth.tmc.edu/records/site/retention_schedule.htm, http://is.hsc.uth.tmc.edu/records/RRS/1900000.pdf , page 24) approved by UT System.
