The CITI on-line course is provided to you free of charge. To log-in to CITI, you must create a user name, password, and profile. When creating your CITI profile, a request for your employee number is requested. If your employee number is not known or if you are an individual not employed by the UT System, you may use any sequence of numbers to satisfy the request for an employee number. Social Security numbers should NOT be used in this field.
Course Requirements for investigators primarily conducting Biomedical Research include 11 modules:
- 8 Core Biomedical modules
- 1 Biomedical module
- 2 elective modules
Course Requirements for investigators primarily conducting Behavioral Research should adhere to the following:
- 8 Core Biomedical modules
- 1 Social and Behavioral module

Log in to CITI
CITI completion certificates must be submitted for all personnel involved in the research protocol and covered by the policy. The educational requirement may be met by completing one of the courses identified below, and certificates of completion must be on record PRIOR to protocol submission for review by the Committee for Protection of Human Subjects (CPHS). Certificates should be sent to the CPHS office either by fax (fax # 713-500-7951) or within IRIS to ensure that the human subjects training database remains accurate and current.
Re-certification is required every three years.
Once the certificate is submitted, you will receive a reminder via e-mail approximately six months, 3 months, and one month prior to its expiration date. For questions regarding the educational requirement, please call the CPHS office at 713-500-7943. |
