Walter R. Lowe, M.D. is the Edward T. Smith Chair in Orthopaedics, Professor and Chairman of the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery at The University of Texas Medical School at Houston. He is also Chief of Orthopedics at Memorial Hermann-TMC, Chief of Orthopaedics Surgery at LBJ General Hospital, and Medical Director of the Memorial Hermann Ironman Sports Medicine Institute, now located at 6400 Fannin, Suite 1700 at Memorial Hermann Medical Plaza.
Dr. Lowe received his medical degree from The University of Texas Medical School at Houston. He completed a fellowship at the Kerlan-Jobe Orthopaedic Clinic in Los Angeles, an internship at John Peter Smith Hospital in Fort Worth and a residency at Tarrant County Affiliated Hospitals in Fort Worth.
Dr. Lowe is certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery and also holds subspecialty certification in Sports Medicine.
Dr. Lowe serves as the Head Team Physician for the NFL Houston Texans, the Head Team Physician for the HCAA University of Houston Cougars, the Head Team Physician for the NBA Houston Rockets, as well as the North Shore Mustangs, B.F. Terry Rangers and other local area high schools.
