C.I.R.C.L.E. EMERGENT LITERACY TRAINING VIDEO SET
The CIRCLE Emergent Literacy Training Video Set (Video Set) was developed at The University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston (UTHSCH) through the Center for Improving the Readiness of Children for Learning and Education (CIRCLE).
Technology: The Video Set is a six series training tool designed to aid in the emergent literacy training of Pre-Kindergarten teachers. The Video Set is designed to be used in the company of a professional CIRCLE trainer and as a subset of a larger presentation. The Video Set is available in either English or Spanish and is most appropriate for training teachers to promote positive learning environments for children between the ages of three and five.
The six part series includes the following components:
Research: The Video Set is aligned with the research data collected as a result of testing funded by the Texas Education Agency, Department of Education and National Science Foundation. The testing focused on different teaching models combining the social, emotional and cognitive thinking of three and four year old children.
The Authors: In December of 1999, Laura Bush inaugurated CIRCLE to serve as a premier center for early childhood research and initiatives. Since its inauguration, CIRCLE has established itself as the national leader in the area of early childhood development. In December of 2002, Texas Governor Rick Perry designated CIRCLE as the Texas State Center of Early Childhood Education and thereby delegated the responsibility for implementing the Texas Statewide Early Childhood Initiative.
