PRESCHOOL EARLY LANGUAGE AND LITERACY TEACHER'S MANUAL
The Preschool Early Language and Literacy (PELL) Teacher’s Manual was developed at The University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston (UTHSCH) through the Center for Improving the Readiness of Children for Learning and Education (CIRCLE).
Technology: The PELL Manual is a terrific resource to aid Preschool teachers in the development of language and literacy in children. This teacher’s aid is available in English or Spanish and is comprised of the following distinct sections:

• Print & Book
• Motivation to Read
• Letter Knowledge
Research: The PELL manual is in alignment with the nationally recognized Head Start Child Outcomes Framework, the Texas Pre-kindergarten Guidelines and the NAEYC/IRA Position Statement.
The Authors: In December of 1999, Laura Bush inaugurated CIRCLE to serve as a premier center for early childhood research and initiatives. Since its inauguration, CIRCLE has established itself as the national leader in the area of early childhood development. In December of 2002, Texas Governor Rick Perry designated CIRCLE as the Texas State Center of Early Childhood Education and thereby delegated the responsibility for implementing the Texas Statewide Early Childhood Initiative.
