
Research and Accolades
Pathology residents at UTHealth Medical School are actively involved in research projects through collaboration with faculty throughout the Texas Medical Center. They present their work in a variety of venues, at local, state, and national levels, including meetings of the Texas Society of Pathologists (TSP), the College of American Pathologists (CAP), the United States and Canadian Academy of Pathologists (USCAP), the Academy of Clinical Laboratory Physicians and Scientists (ACLPS), and numerous pathology subspecialty meetings. Here is a sample of awards earned by our residents for their presentations in recent years:- Paul Strandjord Young Investigator Award (ACLPS meeting): 8 recipients (2005-2010)
- Junior Member Abstract Award (CAP meeting): 1 recipient (2009)
- 1st place poster presentation (TSP meeting): 2 recipients (2007 and 2008)
- 3rd place platform presentation (TSP meeting): 3 recipients (2009, 2010, 2011)
- 3rd place poster presentation (TSP meeting): 1 recipient (2010)
- First Runner-up, Gordon F. Vawter Pathologist-in-Training Award (SPP meeting): 1 recipient (2009)
- James McAdams Stipend Award (SPP meeting): 1 recipient (2010)
