Residents gain experience teaching and get to see the impact of the pathologic diagnosis on patient care through their presentations at interdepartmental conferences. In particular, there are several joint conferences with the internal medicine department in which interesting or complicated surgical pathology or autopsy cases are discussed (Med-Path Conferences or Autopsy CPC). There are also several tumor boards, subspecialty case conferences, and other interdepartmental sessions which residents may attend throughout the month. Within our department, there are daily and weekly quality assurance conferences attended by residents and faculty.
