Follows current standard of care for coronary heart disease:
  • medications
  • invasive procedures
  • regular doctor visits
 Follows a comprehensive risk reduction therapy program  for coronary heart disease:
  • medications
  • procedures as needed
  • coaching on healthy lifestyle
Visits once per year (every 12 months). 5 visits total
Phone call follow-up every 3-6 months 		Visits once per year (every 12 months) with 8 additional follow-up visits.  14 visits total:
  • Year 1: 5 visits
  • Years 2-5: 1 visit every 6 months
At each visit
  • review your current health status and medications
  • measure weight, blood pressure, percent body fat
  • physical exam by a cardiologist
  • 3 day food diary analysis by a dietitian

  • Blood tests for chemistry and cholesterol levels may be drawn

Recommendations for reducing your lifestyle risk factors will continue to be made by your physician based on the Exercise Treadmill Test and your physician’s clinical judgment. Recommendations for reducing your lifestyle risk factors in the report to your physician will be based on another type of stress test called positron emission tomography (PET).
Will not receive the results of the PET tests until after the end of the study (5 years). However, during your PET scan visits, you will be notified if any life threatening results are found. Will receive the results of the PET scan after each PET scan.
