Getting Started at UTHealth
We have prepared a checklist to help you get started with your postdoc at UTHealth.
Before you arrive:
Arrange Living Accomodations (some helpful links below)
- UTHSC-H University Housing
- Off-campus housing and resources
- Nino and Associates (Apartment locator services)
- Houston Association of Realtors (HAR.com)
- Sign up for Utility Services (Powertochoose.com)
Upon arrival:
Contact your PI and/or Lab Manager
Attend Orientation and Pre-employement events at UCT
Make sure to get your UT badge and email account activated.
During your first week:
Visit the Office of Postdoctoral Affairs. (Meet Leslie and Michelle!)
Visit the Office of International Affairs (if you are an international postdoc)
During your first month:
Meet with your PI and fill out an Individual Development Plan (IDP)
Enroll for the Certificate Training Program
Sign up and attend trainings (e.g. lab safety, animal handling, CITI, etc.)
During your first year:
Meet with your PI for your annual review (Go over your IDP and adjust accordingly for 2nd year.)
Apply for grants and fellowships!
