39 y/o male s/p MVA with extensive skull, face, and neck injuries.


A. ECD flow images demonstrate increased perfusion to the right skull, which may be misinterpreted as flow in the distribution of the right MCA (arrow).


B. Anterior static images demonstrate activity involving the right cranium. Residual focal metabolism in the right hemisphere cannot be excluded (arrow). Lateral static projections demonstrate absence of intracranial metabolism, indicating that activity involving the right cranium is confined to the scalp and that the patient is brain dead.

C. Axial CT images de3monstrate a large right-sided cephalohematoma.
