Nuclear Imaging of Meckel's Diverticulum: A Pictorial Essay of Pitfalls

 

A false negative case showing the adverse effects of ranitidine on a Meckel's scan

This patient had an initial pertechnetate study with ranitidine (H-2 blocker) which was negative. A repeat study without ranitidine later revealed abnormal tracer activity on the right surgically proven to be a Meckel's diverticulum.
