Proteomics Core Laboratory Facilities

The Proteomics Core offers two complementary mass spectroscopy centers located in the Sarofim Research Building and the School of Dentistry. The Core facility has an Applied Biosystems QStar Elite tandem LCMSMS. The QStar is a hybrid instrument and can be used for either electrospray ionization or MALDI Qq-TOF MSMS analysis. In the electrospray mode the instrument is equipped with a nano-spray source and an LC Packings capillary chromatography system for on line reverse phase LC analysis.

The lab also performs off-line 2-D HPLC separations using an Agilent 1200 series capillary chromatograph for improved resolution in the analysis of complex mixtures. The School of Dentistry facility uses a Perkin-Elmer MDS Sciex ProToF MALDI QqTOF instrument that offers high resolution, high sensitivity analysis of peptides and proteins in a moderate-high throughput system that can analyze in a 96 or 384 well format.
