The New Investigator Development Program (NIDP) helps junior faculty members develop effective research proposals in a two phase process. In Grants 101, they learn about UTHSC-H research policies and procedures, and, in Grants 102, they refine their skills for writing competitive grant applications. The Program is led by the New Investigator Development and sponsored by the Office of Research.
Grants 101
A seminar for two half days that provides an overview of policies and procedures for submitting and managing UTHSC-H research grants and contracts. The next session will be held October 9 & 10, 2006. Registration is open and available to the first 200 applicants. The presentations will be available here online during the session.
Grants 102
An intensive 8 month workshop that helps junior faculty members refine their skills for developing competitive grant applications. Participants develop a grant application that is peer reviewed and ready to submit for external funding at the close of the workshop. Participants are selected by the New Investigator Development Team, and applications must be submitted by October 11, 2006.
Young Guns
An informal presentation format where junior faculty receive feedback and develop research ideas by presenting preliminary data for other faculty, including experienced investigators; faculty present their most recent research story; and junior faculty are exposed to a broader range of grant proposal possibilities.
